Chris Jager - Cognition Consultant

Chris works as a consultant for Cognition Education.

Her involvement in education began as a teacher of mathematics and computer studies and includes three years teaching in Brunei Darussalam.

Chris joined Cognition from the national facilitation team for the Ministry of Education’s ICT PD cluster programme in early 2007. She has spent 16 of the past 24 months in Qatar as an ICT curriculum specialist, supporting Cognition teams working within Qatar’s ambitious school reform programme. She sees that this has been a great opportunity to examine her beliefs about education through another lens.

Over the years her serious interest in the potential of educational technologies to enrich learning has led to some very rewarding opportunities – including four years as a director on the board of the International Society for Technology in Education board. She believes that it is the ready availability of the Internet, resulting in the removal of limits on the time and place of learning, that has opened up exciting opportunities for learners of all ages and stages to belong to global learning communities.

For the next six months Chris will lead the consolidation phase of the Digital Technologies project; a project which focuses on providing a flexible planning environment for teachers to design appropriate and coherent years 11–13 courses in the field of digital technology.
