Micheal works as a consultant for Cognition Education. His career began as a teacher in the Maori immersion unit at Nawton Primary School in Hamilton while at the same time being employed as a house tutor at St Peter’s Private School in Cambridge. From there Micheal moved onto senior leadership and principal positions in a number of schools in the Waikato and Taranaki region. Micheal joined Multiserve/Cognition in 2004 as the regional manager of the Waikato/Bay of Plenty region. Since that time Micheal’s involvement in New Zealand education has ranged from leading national contracts in Cybersafety in New Zealand schools, Special Education resourcing, digital technologies guidelines, principal professional development, Board of Trustees support and establishment of new schooling projects. Micheal also has extensive overseas experience having completed a number of education reform contracts as part of Cognition’s work in the Gulf. Outside of education, Micheal’s main focus is his whanau. He has also been heavily involved in theatre, travelling, basketball and touch having played, coached and managed both sports to a national level. Currently he is the National Coaching Elite Advisor for Touch New Zealand, working at the strategic planning and organisational levels with the sports’ national coaches. |
