Dr Patricia Vermillion Peirce

Dr Patricia Vermillion Peirce, Cognition’s Senior Research Analyst, has a wealth of experience as a senior analyst and researcher. 

Prior to joining Cognition earlier this year, Patricia was the Senior Advisor & Research Project Manager for the Department of Building and Housing where she was the advisor to Operational Policy and Sector Policy teams on research and evaluation design, and helped establish the educational strategy for the New Zealand building sector.

In a previous role as Senior Researcher at NZQA, Patricia served as the research advisor to NZQA Policy and the Chief Advisor Maori teams, as well as other government and non-government organisations. During her time at NZQA, she worked on a range of research and evaluation projects including the review of the New Zealand qualification system, Te Rautaki Maori and the moderation assessment.

Patricia also worked at the University of Hokkaido in Japan as an Associate Professor and was a Research Fellow at the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. She has a MA in Language, Society & Change and an MPhil in Sociolinguistics / Phonology, both from Queen Mary, University of London. Her PhD is in Experimental Phonology from Victoria University of Wellington.
