Exciting Times Ahead for Arts Online PDF Print

The first meeting of the new Arts Online team took place at Cognition on 11 February 2010.

It was the first opportunity for new members of the team to meet the whole team face-to-face and to become familiar with their key roles as community facilitators. New members were:
•   Nick Brown - Cashmere High School (Drama)
•   Sally Waanders - Rosehill College (Art History)
•   Shane Morrow – Riccarton High School (Music)

They joined the current team comprising:
•    Dr. Phil Coogan (Project Director)
•    Merryn Dunmill (Project Leader)
•    Celia Stewart (Primary Arts)
•    Sam Cunnane – Fraser High School (Visual Arts)
•    Patrice O’Brien -University of Auckland (Dance)

The day also provided a chance for Phil and Merryn to outline some of the changes ahead for Arts Online in 2010. These include a greater focus on distance professional development, utilising the video conferencing facilities of the Ministry of Education’s virtual learning network. The site will also undergo a major make-over to reflect this new focus and to further profile CAFE - Community Artists for Education. The latter is a brokering tool enabling schools to enhance learning in the arts by exposing their students to the many local artists currently listed on the CAFE database.
