Cognition provides support for boards of trustees and school leaders through the annual appraisal of principals and senior leaders. We provide professional development for schools to review and develop their own appraisal processes to ensure they are focussed on growth and development.
Cognition also supports schools through the process of appointing a new principal, including developing position descriptions, the appointment process, performance agreements and induction programmes.
Principal and senior management appraisal
Cognition Education provides external services for principals’ annual appraisal cycle. We work with boards, the principal and senior managers to:
- Develop an annual performance agreement
- Set annual performance goals
- Undertake evidence based inquiry into principal practice
- Provide focussed and constructive feedback and feed forward.
Staff appointments
Cognition can support the board of trustees as they appoint a new principal. We provide expert advice and guidance to the board through each stage as they make this vital appointment. This support includes scoping the position description; advertising and short listing; reference checking and interview techniques.
