So where are the schools located?
We currently have three school community locations and a total of 24 schools across three projects. The schools are gender divided and the kindergarten and primary schools are all staffed by women. Women teach boys until around Grade 5 which is the end of primary school. From preparatory school onwards, men will teach boys and women will teach girls. The three school community locations are:
  • Abu Dhabi Island (city): where we have four schools, which includes one kindergarten, two primary schools (one for boys and one for girls) as well as a secondary girls school.

  • Bani Yas: where we have seven schools which includes one kindergarten, a girls primary school, 2 preparatory schools (one for boys and one for girls) and three secondary schools (two for girls and one for boys). Bani Yas is a small, satellite community for Abu Dhabi City. It is about 40 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi, and is now a fast growing town with a mix of older poorer housing and new big villas and growth – very much an Emirati Bedouin community with few, if any, westerners.

  • Al Ain: a town about the same distance that Hamilton is from Auckland and a similar difference in size and style. Al Ain is an oasis up into the hills on the border with Oman and is green and very pleasant. We have one kindergarten, four primary schools (two for boys and two for girls), two preparatory schools (one for boys and one for girls) and six secondary schools (three for boys and three for girls), totalling thirteen schools.

(People however are not asked to live in Bani Yas, a small town, so we have three school locations and two living locations)
