What should you say and what should you not say?

Don’t use swear words in any context, or criticise the religion or the leadership of the country; i.e. anything related to culture, religion, or to the government – even on the computer. Learn a bit of Arabic, at least. Don’t talk about alcohol outside. Do be prepared to talk about family and do a lot of waiting while others talk. It’s an oral culture, not a written one. Expect interruptions, circular discussion, repetition, and lots of phone calls in meetings. Be careful to only use terms like “Insha’Allah” positively.
